The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District is proud to announce that John F. Kennedy High School junior Peter Mikedis has achieved national recognition by earning Greco-Roman All-American honors at the prestigious 16U National Championships, held at the FARGODOME in Fargo, North Dakota, becoming the school's first Greco-Roman All-American since 1982.

Competing in the highly competitive 16U 175-pound Greco-Roman division from July 14-15, Mikedis posted an impressive 5-2 record to secure a fifth-place finish and All-American status. He also competed in the freestyle division, finishing with a 6-2 record before falling in the “blood round,” one win shy of earning All-American honors in that style.

Mikedis has established himself as one of the region's top wrestlers throughout his high school career. A varsity wrestler since seventh grade, he captured the 165-pound Nassau County championship in February. A two-time All-County wrestler, he was also named the recipient of the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler Award for his exceptional performance.

The district congratulates Peter on this outstanding accomplishment and commends his dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. We wish him continued success as he represents John F. Kennedy High School on the wrestling mat.
