To kick off our annual MLK Week of Service, leadership students from across the district visited social studies classes Jan. 12-16, sharing lessons and leading activities focused on the life and impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Their message was clear: service, empathy, and leadership.

The Central High School District’s strong commitment to science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics was on full display on Jan. 15 during the district’s third annual STEAM Expo.

On the evening of Wednesday, January 14, the students of the Leadership III course at Kennedy High School took the stage to share deeply personal stories that explored the complexities of the human experience. Moving beyond traditional public speaking, the showcase featured a series of CougarTalks focused on themes of managing failure, independence, and the power of connection.

In an extraordinary display of leadership, resilience, and community education, eighth-grade student Austin Bird organized and led a two-day lesson on adaptive sports - specifically wheelchair basketball - on Nov. 24–25 at Merrick Avenue Middle School.
