Historic Victory: Kennedy Baseball Wins First-Ever Long Island Championship

The Kennedy High School Cougars Boys Baseball Team captured the Class AA Long Island Championship with a 9-3 victory over Hauppauge High School on June 6.
The championship victory is the culmination of a remarkable season defined by determination, teamwork and excellence on the field. Throughout the year, the Cougars demonstrated resilience and a commitment to one another, earning their place among the region's top teams.
“This championship represents a historic moment for Kennedy baseball,” said Eric Caballero, Director of Physical Education, Athletics, Driver Education and Health. “Our student-athletes and coaching staff have worked tirelessly all season, and their dedication, resilience and teamwork have earned them a place in school history.”
Coaches Mike Gattus and Steve Costello once again displayed leadership, commitment and guidance in helping lead the Cougars to a championship season.
The Cougars now turn their attention to the next stage of postseason play. Kennedy will face Cornwall Central High School in the New York State playoff round on Friday, June 12, at 7 p.m. at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton as the team continues its pursuit of a state championship.
