Calhoun Students Qualify for Empire Games After High-Intensity Fire Service Event

Calhoun High School recently hosted a high-intensity fire service challenge, pushing students through grueling physical circuits to promote community service and recruitment from Merrick Fire Department’s Engine Hose Co. 3.
While younger students tested their limits, seniors were specifically scouted for local volunteer firefighting roles.
Top performers from the event have officially qualified for the Empire Games, where they will face off against Kennedy High School in firefighting skill challenges on May 21.
This partnership continues to build a strong culture of service and local pride within Merrick.
