District’s STEAM Career Fair Earns State Recognition

The Central High School District’s STEAM Career Fair has been recognized as a Champions of Change program by the New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA).
The STEAM Career Fair began with an idea from former science/STEAM chair Rob Soel and Advanced Science Research teacher Barbi Frank, who both wanted to give students the chance to explore a wide range of STEAM career paths by connecting directly with professionals in the field. Since then, the event has continued to grow, bringing together students, families, and experts from many STEAM industries each year at Kennedy High School.
At the March 4 Board of Education meeting, Annie Doresca from NYSSBA congratulated the district on this honor, noting that the Champions of Change program highlights initiatives making a meaningful impact in New York schools.
The STEAM Career Fair was selected for this prestigious recognition from 60–100 programs reviewed.
The 2026 Career Fair is scheduled for April 21 from 6- 8 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.
