Students at Wellington C. Mepham High School rotated through four fun and engaging stations as part of a schoolwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.  

They stepped back in time for a lesson on old-time baseball, led by Athletic Director Dr. William Murphy and Jerry Kijkow, a custodian who plays 1864 base ball in a local league; rocked out to American-themed music performed by Mepham’s Rock Band, with Joe Inacco, the District’s Director of Technology joining the band on guitar; worked together on a collaborative American flag-themed craft; and capped off the celebration with red, white and blue ice pops. 

The celebration was organized through the efforts of Social Studies Chairperson Robyn Einbinder and Building Assistant Principal Theresa Dell’Olio, along with staff members who helped bring the day to life. 

“America's semi quincentennial gives us the opportunity to celebrate our nation's history,” noted Einbinder. “We created this event so that our school community could come together to engage in fun and interactive experiences to honor this milestone.”
