Mepham Leadership Students Volunteer at Island Harvest Farm

Juniors in Mepham’s School and Community Leadership rolled up their sleeves to help make a difference at Island Harvest Farm recently.
The students, led by teacher Jackie Geller, helped prepare four rows of spring planting on the two-acre farm that produces an incredible 18,000 pounds of fresh food each year, helping to provide 227,000 meals annually to families facing food insecurity.
They weeded, turned over soil, laid down mulch, and repotted herbs and vegetables.
“Their hands-on efforts support a vital mission—ensuring that healthy, fresh food reaches those who need it most in effort to end hunger,” Geller said. “We’re proud of our young leaders for digging in and giving back.”
